Sabine Endres

Sabine Endres was born in Antwerp (Belgium) in 1971 and moved to the Rhineland town of Brühl in 1980.

After completing two vocational training courses and 10 years of independent design work, she has been working exclusively with visual art in her studio in the center of Brühl since 2003.

Through continuous, autodidactic work since the age of 20, she has been developing her individual color and form language right from the start, consciously pursuing an uninfluenced, own path.

In addition to painting since 2009, sculptures of the series "100 heads" and in the field of object art since 2010 first results. Her works can be seen in numerous exhibitions.

About Sabine Endres:

THE ABSTRACT PAINTING OF SABINE ENDRES.

Light and generous are the abstract paintings by Sabine Endres. Moving surfaces condense on the canvas into isolated groups, combine themselves virtuously to a rush of color and are sometimes connected by delicate lines.
In very different ways, these diverse compositions are reminiscent of vegetal structures, landscapes or underwater worlds. But they always remain so indeterminable and devoid of interpretation, that the viewer retains space for their own associations and ideas. They are snapshots of artistic creation and have emerged entirely from the essence of pure painting.

Although her pictures are often created in groups of works and show clear developments and emphases over time, Sabine Endres works with a high degree of spontaneity and coincidence. In this respect one could speak of intuitive-spontaneous painting, which seeks an art freed from any intention and determination.
Similar to French Tachism, which preceded informal painting in Germany from the 1940s onwards, there are often spots of color or so-called taches (la tache franz for (color) stain) in their pictures. These color spots vary in shape and size, in density and abstraction, and are the result of a completely free, intuitive painting process.
At the same time, this painting style, detached from any desire to depict, is accompanied by a certain calculus in order to explore the possibilities of abstract painting again and again using a wide variety of techniques and materials. Sabine Endres manages to maintain a balance between the conscious and the unconscious.

Collaged pieces of paper, drawings, paints applied with a brush or sponge, which form solid or highly liquefied forms of their free form, are compacted, re-painted, redrawn or altered layer by layer over many stages of work.
In this way, unpredictable and yet well-controlled sculptures develop over long periods of time, unfolding a great deal of energy and liveliness while at the same time radiating a harmonious calm. Dynamic traces are formed by running down colors, while thick paint jobs are thickened by pasty applied surfaces.
Translucent overpainting and fine lines add these amorphous and non-objective motifs to overall images that sometimes resemble Impressionist or Japanese natural landscapes: water lilies, blossoms and branches, foaming waves or snow-capped mountain peaks seem to form out of the abstract picture ground without assuming any real shape.
In general, the painting by Sabine Endres conveys, despite all the abstraction, Asian influences without intending to concretely suggest them or to name them consciously. Rather, it is the moving and at the same time meditative impression, which is characteristic of her works, which are bright and in every way stimulating, both through a powerful and gentle coloring.
